Visually impaired people need various Aids and Appliances in their daily life. For them, the Association has been running Equipment Bank since more than two decades. Under this scheme, Braille Wristwatches, Folding canes, various Braille Writing Slates, Chess Boards, Playing Cards, and Audible Balls for playing cricket etc.are offered to needy clients at 50% subsidy. This is a unique Equipment Bank of its kind in Maharashtra.
Until last year, we were purchasing Braille wristwatches from Hindustan Machine Tools (HMT) at reasonable cost of Rs.400/- however with closure of this company we are compelled to purchase the same from Titan Watches Limited at a higher rate of Rs.1200/- Meanwhile we are looking out for an alternative manufacturer.
- (2013 – 2014): During the year, 53 blind persons availed this facility by purchasing various above-mentioned aids.
- (2014 – 2015): During the year, 40 blind persons availed this facility by purchasing various above-mentioned aids.
- (2015 – 2016): During the year, 60 blind persons availed this facility by purchasing various above mentioned aids.
- (2016 – 2017): During the year 70 blind persons availed this facility by purchasing various above mentioned aids.
- (2017 – 2018): During the year 75 blind persons availed this facility by purchasing various above mentioned aids.
- (2018 – 2019): During the year 78 blind persons availed this facility by purchasing various aids and appliances at subsidized cost..
